A booking page for SEO discovery calls, on a free plan

A page where a prospect sees who the first call is for, picks a time and shows up prepared. What to write on it, a confirmation and reminder email you can copy, a 30-minute call agenda, and the build on systeme.io's free plan.

FTC and Google guidance checked on 29 October 2026; systeme.io details as listed on 29 October 2026.

The short answer: six blocks above the calendar: who the call is for, what happens on it, how long it lasts, what to prepare, what you do with their details, and how to reschedule. Keep the confirmation and reminder about the booking only, and add people to marketing emails only if they ask. On systeme.io's free plan, one calendar event and one funnel page cover it, and the systeme.io badge stays on the page.

The six blocks on the page

The page has two jobs: help the right people book, and help the wrong people decide not to.

BlockWhat to write
Who it is forType of business, area, the problem in plain words, one "not a fit if" line
What happens on the callA few lines from your agenda, and what they leave with
Length and formatMinutes, and video, phone or in person
What to prepareA short list they can answer from memory
Privacy noteWhat you collect, why, where it is stored, how to ask for deletion
Reschedule and no-show policyHow to move the call, by when, and what happens if they miss it

Leave out ranking promises. Google's page on hiring an SEO says "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." Keep examples of past work for the call, where you can explain the context.

Booking page copy you can copy

Paste this above the calendar and edit the brackets.

Book a [30]-minute call about your search visibility

Who this is for: owners of [type of business] in [area] who want more [calls, booked jobs, inquiries] from search. It is not a fit if [you need results within a month / you want paid ads managed].

What happens on the call: I ask about your business, your competitors and how customers find you today. I share [one or two] things I noticed on your site. We decide together whether a proposal makes sense. I will not promise rankings; no one honestly can.

Length: [30] minutes, by [video link / phone]. [Times are shown in your time zone.]

Helpful to have ready: your website address, the [two or three] services you most want more of, a few competitors you run into, and anything done on SEO before, and by whom.

Your details: I use your name, email and answers only to prepare for and hold this call. They are stored in [the booking system that runs this page][ and my calendar]. I will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask. To have them deleted, email [address]. Full notice: [privacy page link].

Need another time? Your confirmation email lets you reschedule or cancel. Please do it at least [24 hours] before the call. If we miss each other, I will email once with a link to book again.

Template only: fill every bracket with your own details.

Confirmation and reminder emails

On systeme.io, per its help pages, the host and the invitee both get a booking confirmation right away, and the invitee's confirmation has a button at the bottom for rescheduling or canceling. Reminders go out 24 hours and 1 hour before by default; you can change or remove them, but their content is automatic and cannot be edited.

Your own email is a short personal note on top of those, sent by hand the day they book. Send your own reminder only if you removed the automatic ones, or for a call booked by reply.

Confirmation and prep email

Subject: Our call on [day, date] at [time, time zone]

Hi [first name],

Thanks for booking a [30]-minute call about [business name]. We are set for [day, date] at [time, time zone]. [Join here: link. / I will call you at the number you gave.]

If you have a minute before then, jot down:

  • the [two or three] services you most want more of
  • a few competitors you run into
  • how customers usually find you today
  • any SEO work done before, and by whom

If something is hard to find, skip it. To move or cancel, use the button at the bottom of your booking confirmation email, ideally [24 hours] ahead.

Reminder (only if you send your own)

Subject: Tomorrow: our call at [time, time zone]

Hi [first name],

A reminder that we are talking tomorrow, [day], at [time, time zone], for [30] minutes. [Link / I will call [number].] If the time no longer works, reply to this email.

[Your name]

If they do not show

Subject: Sorry we missed each other

Hi [first name],

I had us down for [time] today. No problem if something came up. If you still want to talk, pick a new time here: [booking page link]. If not, there is nothing you need to do, and I will not write again about this call.

What the FTC guide says about these emails

The FTC's CAN-SPAM guide says the law makes no exception for business-to-business email, and that a message's primary purpose decides whether it is commercial. Content that "facilitates, completes, or confirms a commercial transaction that the recipient already has agreed to" is transactional or relationship content, a category the guide says the law views narrowly; a message with only that content is exempt from most provisions, but its routing information must not be false or misleading. A mixed message is commercial if a reasonable reader of the subject line would likely conclude it contains an ad or promotion, or if the transactional part does not appear mainly at the beginning.

The guide does not mention booked calls or appointments, so this page does not decide whether a confirmation for a free first call is transactional. The cautious route: keep these emails about the booking (time, link, what to prepare, how to change it) and put no offers, sales links or newsletter invitations in them. If you do add any, treat the email as commercial and include what the guide lists:

RequirementThe FTC guide, paraphrased
Header informationAccurate, and identifies who sent it
Subject lineReflects the content
Identify it as an adClearly and conspicuously
Postal addressA street address, a registered post office box, or a registered private mailbox
Opt-outA clear way to stop marketing email, by reply or an easy online method; a menu must include stopping all of it; works for at least 30 days after sending
Honor opt-outsWithin 10 business days; no fee, nothing asked beyond an email address
ResponsibilityCannot be contracted away to whoever sends for you

The guide lists civil penalties of up to $53,088 for each separate email in violation.

Booking a call is not signing up for your emails. If you want to send follow-ups, ask. On the booking form, add an optional custom question such as "After the call, may I send you up to four short follow-up emails? You can unsubscribe at any time. (yes/no)". Asking first is this site's practice, not a line from the FTC guide. Add only those who say yes, by hand, as the five-email follow-up sequence describes for call prospects; its fourth email is where this booking link goes for everyone else.

A plain-language summary of the FTC's business guide, not legal advice. It covers US federal law only; if your prospects are in other countries, check the rules where they live.

A 30-minute discovery call agenda

Take notes in the prospect's own words; you will quote them back in the proposal.

  1. Set the frame (2 minutes)

Confirm the end time. Say what the call is for: "By the end, we will both know whether a proposal makes sense."

  2. Their business (12 minutes)

Google's page on hiring an SEO says a good SEO asks what sets the business apart, who the competitors are, how search could help, and how customers find the business. Ask those four, then: what does a good month look like, in calls, jobs or sales? Who approves changes to the site?

  3. Their site (6 minutes)

One or two things you saw on public pages, phrased as questions: "Your [service] page does not mention [city]. Is that on purpose?" No scores, no forecasts.

  4. How you work (6 minutes)

The same Google page tells owners what to ask an SEO: examples of previous work, what results to expect and in what timeframe, how success is measured, experience in their industry and area, and how changes are communicated. Have a short, honest answer to each. On timing, describe what you do first and when they hear from you, not when rankings will move.

  5. Next step (4 minutes)

Either "I will send a one-page proposal by [day]" or "I do not think I am the right fit, and here is why." If a proposal follows, use the SEO proposal template. Then ask whether they want follow-up emails, and note the answer.

The minutes are a suggestion. If the call runs long, cut your own sections first.

Build it on systeme.io's free plan

systeme.io's booking calendar page says the calendar is included on the free plan at no additional cost. As listed on its pricing page on 29 October 2026:

Pricing page rowFreeStartup ($17 per month, monthly billing)
Events15
BookingsUnlimitedUnlimited
Sales funnels310
Sales funnels steps1550
Custom domains13
Google Calendar (integration)IncludedIncluded

systeme.io details as listed on 29 October 2026. The pricing FAQ adds that the free plan never expires and needs no credit card. Check the table again before you build.

One event means one call type, so pick a single length for the first call. One event can still offer several locations, such as a video link and phone, and the invitee picks.

  1. Connect Google Calendar (optional, recommended)

systeme.io recommends connecting it before you create events, to prevent double-bookings. Profile picture, Settings, Integrations, Google Calendar, Connect; choose the account, Continue, and tick Select All, which per the help article lets systeme.io view, modify and manage all your calendars. Its Check for Conflicts option looks at your connected calendars before a booking is confirmed. Updates and cancellations sync both ways.

  2. Set your general availability

CRM, Calendar, Availability tab. These hours are the default for all your events. Under Weekly availability, pick your days and use + Add a time slot. Date-specific availability overrides the weekly hours for one date; Time-off blocks dates such as holidays. Click Save.

  3. Create the event

CRM, Calendar, Events, Create new event, Individual event (one person per slot), Confirm. Fill in Event name, Host name and Event duration; under Location settings choose Online meeting (a custom meeting link works), Phone or In person, or several. Paste a short version of your page copy into Event description, which shows on the booking page. Turn on Google Calendar (shown once it is connected) and pick the calendar that receives bookings.

  4. Set the booking rules to match your policy

In the event: the booking window (Indefinitely into the future, Days into the future or Within a date range), Minimum notice period, Cancellation deadline (how close to the start cancellations are allowed) and Available hours, where Use global availability applies step 2. Advanced settings hold Start time increments, Daily limit, Buffer time and Time zone display (host's or guest's time zone).

One possible setup, for illustration only: 30 days ahead, 24 hours' notice, a 24-hour cancellation deadline to match the page, a 15-minute buffer, two calls a day, times in the guest's time zone. The help pages do not say whether the cancellation deadline also limits rescheduling, so test it.

Reminders: use + Add a new reminder or Remove; up to three per event, none less than 10 minutes before the start.

  5. Create the page and add the Calendar element

systeme.io lists the Calendar element for free bookings on an opt-in page, a sales page or a blog page. For a new page: Sites, Sales funnels, Create; enter a name, domain and currency, and choose Build an Audience, which creates an opt-in page and a thank-you page. Use a funnel of its own, not an opt-in page an automation rule watches; the calendar help pages listed below do not say whether a booking triggers rules. Open the page with Edit page, drag the Calendar element from the left panel, and pick your event in the Event dropdown (with one event, it is selected for you). Put your page copy above it.

The element has three steps, each with its own headline settings. Calendar step: 12- or 24-hour time. Form step: custom questions, each with a Mandatory option; add the optional follow-up question here. Thank You step: a redirect to the next funnel step, a custom URL, or none. Click Save at the top right.

  6. Label the badge

systeme.io's help article calls it an affiliate badge. Its setting, in the page editor's Settings, reads "Display an affiliate badge to earn lifetime commissions", and Free plan users cannot remove it. If it can earn you a commission, say so on the page: "The systeme.io badge on this page is a paid link. I may earn a commission if you sign up through it." The FTC's endorsement FAQ says "affiliate link" alone may not be understood, "Paid link" right next to the link should be adequate, and closer is better. Place that line as near the badge as you can.

  7. Book yourself first

Book a slot with your own email and check the confirmation and the event in your calendar. Then, under CRM, Calendar, Bookings, use the three dots and Reschedule booking (pick a time, Apply, Reschedule booking), then Cancel booking and Confirm. Canceled and past bookings can be removed with Delete.

After someone books

Before you share the link

Then put the link where interested people already look: your contact page, your email signature, and the booking step of a small follow-up system.

For the sending domain, email footer and follow-up campaign on the same free account, see Part B of the walkthrough.
